A traditional Thanksgiving dinner

Now that the weather is changing and the time has changed back, the holidays are right around the corner. November is truly the beginning of the holiday season. Throughout November we have many small holidays and remembrances. These include Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and a special quadrennial  Election Day. Although we are all excited for the Christmas season we seem to be forgetting one of the most important holidays; Thanksgiving. My personal favorite. Not only do we get to see our family from far away and eat an excessive amount, but we also have the opportunity to say our thanks.

Throughout the year we get caught up and become busy and as a result we forget how blessed we are. “What if one day we woke up and we were only left with what we thanked God for yesterday?” Each day we need to wake up and be thankful for all we have. There are people around the world without the proper needs to survive. We have the simplest things to be thankful for: a bed, food, and happiness. So when the fourth Thursday of November rolls around, sit down at the Thanksgiving table, look around, and be grateful for what the Lord has blessed you with. Give a extra kiss to your grandma with the prickly chin just to say thank you and listen to the war stories from your great uncle and be thankful for the free country you live in. The Christmas cheer can wait, for you have many blessings right in front of you to be thankful for. December 1st will be here before you know it, the festivities can begin then.
