From Tokyo, Japan where she was born, to Travelers Rest, South Carolina, the journey has been a remarkable one for Zayn DeAndrade. She is a senior now at Travelers Rest High School and has had a successful athletic career playing on the Lady Devildogs tennis team.

DeAndrade has been The Blue and Gold’s graphic editor this past school year and has done something no one else has by creating hand-drawn comic strips. Her drawings dealt with topics like rivalry games and everyday school life. In addition, DeAndrade has helped create the new Devildog Sports Network logo.

She takes pride in being a Devildog and says, “After four years [here], I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.” She also says she will be sad to leave all the friends and teachers that have made an impact on her journey, but is excited to continue her academic career with Clemson University.

DeAndrade’s advice to upcoming high schoolers is to be as involved as you can. “You’re only in high school once,” DeAndrade says.

Thank you, Zayn, for everything you have contributed to The Blue And Gold. We wish the best for you!
