The 2017 Golden Regiment marched into the fall with hopeful and productive attitudes. Early in the season, the students competed in the Reservation Tournament of Champions at Gaffney high school. Although they came in last out of four groups, the band’s score was very high in the intense competition.  According to senior Olivia James, “We have a really young band this year, but if we stay focused and determined we can come out on the top.”

Their last guaranteed competition was Upper State Qualifiers on Oct. 21. The band scored 11th out of 17 schools. Only the top eight schools made it to State. Junior Caitlyn Howard, drum major, says, “The season has been long due to a lot of conflict. However, I believe this a growth period for our band, and will help our band in years to come.”

The Golden Regiment season is over, but they are determined to practice and prepare for next year’s season. They’re determined to work harder on the off-season to be a successful band next year.
