Greenville’s District-Wide American-Out
This week marks Greenville County School’s district-wide American-Out in support for Veterans Day. Travelers Rest High School is having many events during school to present their participation for this patriotic rally.
Tuesday, Nov. 7, the students and staff were encouraged to wear red. Today, everyone is expected to wear white. Tomorrow, Nov. 9, the color blue will be the theme and students as well as teachers will be able to write a Veteran’s name on a Veteran Star. The stars will be later displayed in the Commons. On Friday, there will be an American-Out and a most-patriotic competition where the winner will be able to receive a $25 Chick-Fil-A gift card. Also, Veteran’s “forgotten no more” bracelets will be sold for $2 all week.
All profits received throughout the week will be given to South Carolina for Korean war veterans to put their names on the Korean War monument in Washington D.C. All donations are appreciated to acknowledge their sacrifices. Senior Bella Powell says, “This is an amazing opportunity for our district to participate as a whole. Also, it is great for our generation to honor our veterans.”
This is a great chance for TRHS as a school and community to support our veterans and country. For more information, please access the Greenville County School’s website or contact Bella Powell, Inter-High Council member, at 864-730-5074.
