This year’s political race has seemed more like an ongoing soap opera rather than a political campaign. I find myself actually watching the televised debates from start to finish, something I have never done before. If you were bring up politics today, my thoughts would be plagued with angry rants from both sides, numerous he-said, she-said claims, and countless television ads tearing down the other candidate. Being someone who was finally able to vote in the presidential race, I was very disappointed in both parties representatives. I always dreamed of being able to walk into the booth and punch in my vote from a very young age. I am finally old enough to do so, but this is not at all the kind decision I imagined making. A decision in which I want to vote for neither.

This election seemed to have people torn over which candidate they should vote for. The main two candidates being Hillary Clinton for the Democrats and Donald Trump for the Republicans. Both candidates have their up and downs, but depending on what media outlet you listen to, you may not be informed about certain things.

Both candidates had been plagued with numerous scandals throughout this election season. Scandals that sound like they came out of an issue of People Magazine rather than from CNN. The spotlight was put on past faults over current stances on political issues. When the name Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton was mentioned, thoughts immediately go to leaked e-mails and inappropriate interviews. Neither of which have to do with anything to do with many political issues.

All news outlets are bias, some may be more than other but everyone favors a specific candidate. Two very big news companies are Fox News, which typically targets Republican, and CNN, which typically targets Democrats. These two companies are also extremely bias for their party; they try their best to invite important members of the other party to talk, but their “guests” are interrupted the moment they say something the host doesn’t like.

When CNN talks about Trump, they may misquote him and even have edited Trumps tweets. On Fox News, they will tell you Hillary said something wrong, but may not show her saying it. If you go on CNN’s website, the first thing you see is a negative article about Trump, and when you go on Fox, you’ll see the same thing about Hilary.

In hindsight, just because the candidate you wanted to win ends up losing, it doesn’t mean that the country is doomed as we know it. In America, we have checks and balances, which specializes in making sure one branch of the government does not outweigh the other. So even if you didn’t want Trump to be President, there’s no use in crying over spilled milk. He is our President and it is our duty to support him. Besides, in the end, we live in the greatest country on earth- with nothing and no one being able to change that. God Bless America.
