Senior Spotlight: Calvin Brinkman
Calvin Brinkman is a senior graduating in the class of 2021 at Travelers Rest High School. Over the course of his high school career, Calvin has been involved with both sports and academic extracurriculars. He was a member of the Robotics club, Beta Club, National Honors Society, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Drama club. As for his sports involvement, he threw discus for the Travelers Rest High School Track and Field team. Calvin was also a member of the Travelers Rest newspaper for two years and served as an editor.
His advice to incoming freshmen is to “not be afraid of joining clubs and sports,” which makes sense based on his extensive extracurricular involvements. Calvin’s favorite class at Travelers Rest was his computer science class because of his interest in the field of work. His advice to his own freshman self is to choose classes that he actually needs instead of picking random classes. However, he has no major regrets and overall is satisfied with his high school experience.
Calvin’s post-graduation goals are to go to college and earn a degree, and he currently wishes to work in the virtual reality field. He has committed to attending Mississippi State University and plans to major in Software Engineering.
