The $1000 iPhone X
Apple is celebrating the iPhone’s 10th anniversary with the iPhone X (iPhone 10). After first being announced on Sept. 11th by Apple CEO Tim Cook, the new iPhone is the most anticipated Apple product yet. In its unveiling moment, Cook stated, “It’s truly amazing how much the iPhone impacts the world every day.” This is why this new phone is being sold for $1000.
Many people claim that $1000 is too expensive for a phone; however, Apple disagrees. James Titcomb, editor of The Telegraph, says the cost is not that absurd. “Think of some other things that may cost roughly the same amount as your phone: a TV, for example, or a holiday. Compared to the TV, you probably get a lot more value out of your phone,” he stated.
Apple argues that with this new phone, you will no longer need a personal computer, a GPS, flashlight, wallet, calendar, a fitness tracker, and more. By having those things available on the phone, it apparently justifies the high price.
Some customers argue that even though the iPhone X is the future of smartphone design, it will still be available in the future when the price lowers. Apple has sold more than 1.2 billion devices in the last decade, which gives the company leverage to continue to raise the iPhone prices. Starting on Oct. 27th you can pre-order the iPhone X on the Apple website and shipping begins on Nov. 3rd. The supply is expected to be extremely limited. As Apple continues to sell their products, people can be certain their technology will continue to improve.
