Talent is something TRHS definitely doesn’t lack. This was proven at this year’s Student Talent Show, hosted by D2 Stageworks drama club on Sept. 19. There were singers, a hula-hooper, and a slam poet just to name a few. MC Aaron McKee, TRHS junior, kept the show exciting between acts with witty jokes and his enthusiastic delivery.

The acts at this year’s show weren’t just diverse, they were genuinely good. Davis Waters, TRHS junior, came in first place with his rendition of Dave Matthews Band’s “Squirm.” Before he began, he explained how the lyrics represented a hopeful message in spite of today’s current events. Second place went to sophomore Hadley Register, who sang “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele. After the show, Hadley said, “I guess I really enjoyed it because I got to share my talent and what I love most of all.” Junior Maddie Martin rounded off third place with an emotional poem about her commitment to art. Her powerful delivery made everyone in the room feel her words.

In the future, we hope that the talent show will become an annual event. McKee said, “We made a lot of money this year and a lot of people came. We will definitely have it again in the future.” All of the proceeds from the night went to D2 Stageworks.
