A relatively new social media platform has recently gained popularity. Bereal came out in the year 2020, but only recently has gained popularity through other forms of social media such as TikTok and Instagram. Talk around the town has also caused Bereal to gain popularity in the local area. 

Bereal is a unique application that has risen to the top of the charts just this year. The general gist of Bereal is simple, yet entrancing to its users. The social media application sends out a notification at a random time throughout the day; The notification only happens once a day and gives its users the opportunity to capture an image of whatever they might be doing. With this, they only have 2 minutes to take the picture. The user, however, may take the picture up to hours later with no repercussions. Users are also able to react to their friends being real on Bereal, and make motivational remarks to each other.

Interviews were conducted to acquire the general opinion of this newly popular social media application. In an interview with Bereal addict, Ethan Robertson, Ethan states, “I think Bereal is a real game changer. People can’t put on a facade with this app, they just have to be real. It’s definitely my new favorite social media app”. In another interview with Bereal enthusiast, Bryson Parduhn, he states, “I spend most of my day just waiting for the Bereal notification to go off. I love the app, I basically live for it”. Others though were not as supportive of Bereal as Ethan and Bryson. Bereal opposition, Mattison Knight, commented, “I think Bereal is a goofy concept. People can’t post at any time of day, they don’t even have to be real as the app description states. It’s also a waste of time to wait on the Bereal notification. Why use Bereal when I can just use Snapchat and take multiple pictures rather than just one?”

Unbeknownst to the opinions of others, many people still use the social media platform daily. The application is currently trending, and it is truly an enigma of how long it will stay trending.
