Ashley Looper placed 2nd in the state – Rick Veazey

The Lady Devildog golf team has had an amazing state championship this year, placing seventh overall even after having to replace three senior starters. Equally impressive, is the performance of Ashley Looper, who placed second in the state. The girls played against Wren and two lower state teams on the first day of the championship, and then Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, and Greenville the second day. At the end of the first day, the girls were placed ninth, but pulled their position up to seventh before the end of the second day.

The team had to work hard all season to replace lost assets, but they have obviously risen above the challenge and proved themselves this year.

When asked about the experience, Looper says, “The most fun part was getting to be at the beach, and being with my friends. When I learned that I placed second, I was disappointed because I worked so hard all season. But I’m still proud of myself for placing so highly. You get out of it what you put into it.”
