Frazee Center Book Drive

The current IB Diploma Programme students just hosted a book drive for the Frazee Center. The Frazee Center is a free preschool, after school, and summer program serving under-resourced children in Greenville. They specifically serve children ranging from 3k-5th grade. They also recently expressed a need for books aimed towards two to five year old children. The drive started on the 19th of September and lasted until the 28th. The last books were collected at the Homecoming football game against Eastside High School along with a school supply collection for the TRHS Supply Stop.

The incentive for the students to bring books was incorporated into Homecoming week. The class year that brought the most books received 100 points added to their homecoming totals, which went to the seniors. The junior class came in second for book totals, so they received 50 points.  Third place, the freshmen, received 25 points. In addition to this, the first block class that brought the most books will get a pizza party, won by Mr. Marsh’s first block.

During most Homecoming weeks, class competition is limited to finding the spirit rock, yelling for the spirit stick, and building the best float. The Frazee Center book drive provided a fun alternative to the usual Homecoming point system, as it allowed for the entire student body to become involved in the week.
