Loren Short has been a part of the Blue and Gold Newspaper for 3 years and has served as an editor for 2 years. She will be using her experience as an editor, by furthering her education at Western Carolina University where she will be majoring in English. As one of our seniors this year, she was asked a few questions to summarize and reflect on her experiences at Travelers Rest High School.

While being at TR, Loren was a part of the Girls Varsity Tennis Team, National Honors Society, and Beta Club. When asked what her advice to incoming freshmen would be, Loren encouraged “ to enjoy high school while it lasts, it’s only as bad as you make it out to be, and by the time you graduate you’ll wish you had enjoyed it more. One experience that left an impression on Loren during her time in high school was her time in her favorite class, AP United States History. During this, Loren formed a special bond with her favorite teacher, Ms. Meller who she believes pushed her strive for excellence and helped her find what she was most passionate about.

When Loren was asked to reflect on her freshman self and what advice she would give her, Loren said “Everything counts, make sure you try your best on every assignment no matter the class and also enjoy high school more, you never really know how fast time will fly by.” The entire Blue and Gold staff would like to thank Loren for all she has done during her time as a member and editor and wishes her luck in all future endeavors.
