The anticipated Mr. TR pageant has come and gone – raising over a whopping $1300.  Under a new director, Ms. Weisinger, Mr. TR experienced changes to help improve the quality of the show.  She said that “everyone’s hard work paid off exceptionally well.”

For the first time ever, talent was added into the competition to spice it up.  Each grade level was asked to create a group talent; freshman performed synchronized swimming; the sophomores sang “The Man of Constant Sorrow”; the juniors sang “Anthem” and incorporated interpretive dancing; and last but not least, the seniors performed an ‘80s workout routine.   The freshman class took home the prize.

The contestants were also asked to find a sponsor for the pageant.  They handed out roses to them during the pageant, which was a sweet moment, with “awes” from the crowd – giving the contestants an opportunity to thank them.  The master of ceremony was Mr. Blakely, whom said that “all the stars were shinning bright tonight.”

The student body voted for the sexiest eyes prior to the pageant, choosing Seth King. The People’s Choice award went to Bo McKinneyJars were placed with each contestant’s name and the audience had the opportunity to place money into them.

Mr. Freshman is Joe Koppari, Mr. Sophomore is Cross Powell, Mr. Junior is Drew Harshbarger, and Mr. Senior is Austin Grumbles.  The title of ‘Mr. TR’ went to Bubba Philpot. He said he is “honored to be Mr. TR and had by far the best experience with the best possible group of guys.”

The Blue and Gold staff had a wonderful time continuing this great tradition and can’t wait to make it even better next year.
