¡A presentar la nueva la Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (introducing the new Spanish Honor Society)! This new honors club is a great new addition to Travelers Rest High School’s range of extracurricular activities. The club is managed by the high school Spanish teachers, and allows gifted students a variety of opportunities to strengthen their Spanish skills. They hold meetings once a month. The club is servers the community as well as expans the Hispanic and Latino culture to different ethnicities of the community.

So far the club has already completed one service project. On Oct. 21, the club participated came to Travelers Rest High School and cleaned up litter around the school. When asked about the event, Mrs. Moses said, “For the two hours we were there, we got a lot done and we hope to have several more successful events in the future.” An upcoming project they have is on Nov. 11, in Greenville S.C., the members will be running an informational booth during the Special Olympics. 

So far this club has really shown Travelers Rest High School the Hispanic and Latino community of their school in a positive and accepting way. Josh Lipscomb, member of the Spanish NHS, stated, “I feel the club encourages more leadership and more opportunities to help the community,” and help ” the community [to have] the same influence on our society.” The Spanish Honor Society is a great way to expand the knowledge of this unique culture to a variety of people in Travelers Rest.
