Student Council Starts the Season Off Right

The 2018-2019 TRHS Student Council is already at hard work this first quarter of the school year. Student Council had great success with first day skits and assemblies, along with dog training for the freshmen. They are now preparing for homecoming week (Sept. 24th-Sept. 28th), which consists of float building, dress up days, and the football game against Eastside on Friday, September 28th. Because of Student Council’s hard work and good leadership, they have earned the National Gold Council of Excellence Award for the tenth year in a row.

The National Gold Council of Excellence Award is awarded to Student Council leaders by the National Association of Student Councils. This is earned by demonstrating quality leadership and serving their schools and communities. The National Gold Council of Excellence Award is the second and the highest level of recognition of the National Councils of Excellence. It is a great honor that the Travelers Rest Student Council has been awarded this for ten years.

The Student Council has some very exciting plans for the 2018-2019 homecoming and float building. This year’s theme is “Bringing Pixar to Life”. The class themes The Incredibles for Freshman, Finding Nemo, Sophomores Monsters Inc, for Juniors, and Toy Story for Seniors. The Homecoming parade will be on Thursday, the 27th, and will march through downtown Travelers Rest ending at TRHS.
