Tumbling Into Competition

The Travelers Rest cheerleading team is bringing their all this school year. Despite the loss of six seniors, the girls are still continuing to show TR all their school spirit.

Their determination and tireless work ethic showed on the mat at their first competition, held on Sat. Oct. 7 at Travelers Rest High School. The girls came out on top, with a win against Eastside and Daniel High School. They were overwhelmed with excitement from coming in first place, while Daniel came in second, and Eastside in third. Junior Chanlan Ann Kasa said, “We scored a 273 and the highest amount of points you can earn is 390.”

After the girls first win of the season, they took their high spirits to their next competition in the Lion’s Den to face Daniel High and Eastside once again. The girls got the victory, winning their 4a division and as overall grand champs. The girls had positive attitudes and were eager to compete.Their determination and spirit ended up making it their best performance yet.

Despite the team being fairly young this year, it’s not stopping the Devildogs from pumping out victories with new additions to their routines. The girls have many more competitions to compete in, so they are spending their time on practice for their region competition on Wed. Oct. 25 at Wade Hampton.
