TR Falls on Senior Night

Last Friday night, Travelers Rest hosted its annual senior night football game against the Greer Yellow Jackets. On a night where all fall sports were honored in a pregame ceremony, the Devildogs looked to bounce back from a 56-55 loss to Eastside in Overtime. After the festivities, Greer jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead after scoring on their first offensive play from scrimmage. That was followed by a punt return early in the first quarter of play. TR responded as Wilson Hendricks connected to Derrick Fields on a touchdown pass which made the score 14-6. It was all Greer following that, as the Yellow Jackets took a 35-6 lead at halftime, and eventually finished the game with a final score of 58-6.

Even though senior night ended on a sour note for the Devildogs, it has been a season TR will never forget. “We created an unbelievable brotherhood these past four years,” Senior Josh Gibson says. “I’ve met some awesome people and have been coached by some amazing coaches, wouldn’t trade this for anything in the world.” Travelers Rest begins a three-game road trip to end the season this Friday, October 12th, at Greenville. These seniors have given everything they have, something both coaches and fans are grateful for. We wish them the best in the future.
