Along with the national clubs like Beta Club and the National Honor Society, Travelers Rest High School also has another club students may be less familiar with: the Leo Club. Many don’t even know the meaning of the Leo club.The LEO acronym stands for: Leadership, Experience, Opportunity. The leadership facet focuses on developing skills as a project designer, time manager, and team leader. “Experience” is for learning how teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration can bring exciting changes to the community. Lastly, “opportunity” is for making friends and feeling the rewards of community service.

The Leo Club was brought to Travelers Rest High School two years ago by Ms. Welden, now Mrs. Davis. However, this year a new sponsor, Mr. Scheffers, is ready to continue on with the Leo club. The club has been a help in the Travelers Rest and Greenville area in the past. Last year they spent time with kids at the Frazee Center. They aspire to do community services throughout the rest of the year. One of their biggest service projects coming up. They will be helping with the setup of the Roper Mountain Holiday Lights which have been a tradition in the Upstate for 25 years. But no matter where they serve, the Travelers Rest Leo Club will continue to help the community for many years to come.
